THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH THEATRE COMPANY

Frequently Asked Questions

Arriving at the Playhouse

1) How do I get to the Playhouse?

The Devonport Playhouse is located on Fore Street in Devonport, near the Police Station. If you are coming from the city centre area, the City College is a sign you are heading in the right direction. Please input PL1 4DN in your navigational system to find us.

2) Is there parking facilities?

The Playhouse does not have a car park, only on street parking. We ask all who visit to be mindful of our neighbours. Please do not double park on small alleys which would stop access for local residents or the emergency services.

3) What time does the theatre open before a show?

For an afternoon performance, the playhouse will open at 13:45. For an evening performance, the playhouse opens at 18:45. Both the bar and auditorium are open at these times. For a visiting company performance, these times may vary, please check with their box office.

4) What happens if I am late arriving?

For latecomers it is the discretion of the front of house staff on whether they will be able admit you to the auditorium. We will always wait for a suitable moment in the production to minimise disturbance to other patrons and the cast.

5) Can I get a refund on my booking?

We are unable to offer refunds but we will of course do our best to get you back for another performance.

6) Is the Playhouse wheelchair friendly?

Yes. We have a wheelchair lift (please note that his has a weight limit of 200kg and is only available for manual wheelchairs) to enter the Playhouse, with 2 of spaces at the back of the stalls (certain restrictions apply). We have a disabled access toilet available. If you have any further questions, please get in touch (click here to contact us)

7) Can I exit the theatre during a performance?

If you leave the auditorium during a performance there will be no readmittance until a suitable point in the production.

8) Can I bring alcohol to the theatre?

Only alcohol bought on the premises may be consumed in the theatre.

Booking tickets for Plymouth Theatre Company shows

1) How can I book?

You can book on this website (click here to book now) or you can book by calling our Box Office on 01752 560726.

2) Can I make group bookings?

Of course, we are happy to make large group bookings, please call the Box Office on 01752 560726 to discuss it further.

3) Can I pick up my tickets on the day?

You can currently book tickets and have the option to collect on the door. However, our ticketing system allows you to have a digital ticket so you can just show your smartphone.

4) I need to book for someone/myself who is in a wheelchair, how shall I do this?

Wheelchair bookings should be booked with the Box Office and are unfortunately unavailable online. Please call 01752 560726.

5) I have a young child who will be coming, do I need to book them a seat?

We advise our patrons to purchase a ticket for children who can sit in a seat comfortably by themselves. We have booster seats available free of charge. Unfortunately we can’t allow young children to sit on laps so they will need a seat. Our theatre insurance allows for the correct number of patrons to seats. Anymore than this is a potential fire risk. Also the length of our shows is a very long time for a toddler to sit still on somebodies lap without disturbing other patrons.

6) What happens if I mislay my ticket?

Please contact the Box Office on 01752 560726 and we will be happy to help.

7) Can I book to see a visiting company through you?

No. Please contact the relevant companies Box Office to purchase tickets and for all other enquires regarding their show.

8) What tickets are classed as concessions?

Children, students, and over 65’s qualify for concession prices.
