Frequently Asked Questions & Policies
Arriving at the Playhouse
1) How do I get to the Playhouse?
The Devonport Playhouse is located on Fore Street in Devonport, near the Mecca Bingo & Police Station. If you are coming from the City Centre area, the City College is a sign you are heading in the right direction. Please input PL1 4DN in your navigational system to find us.
2) Is there parking facilities?
There is no Car Park specially for the Playhouse, only on street parking. We ask all who visit to be mindful of our neighbours. Please do not double park on small alleys which would stop access for local residents or the emergency services.
3) What time does the theatre open before a show?
For evening performances, the theatre opens at 6:00pm for access to the bar, with the auditorium then opening at 7:00pm to allow you to take your seats. For an afternoon performance (2:30pm start) the playhouse will open at 1:00pm for access to the bar, with the auditorium then opening at 2:00pm. For a visiting company performance, these times may change, please check with their box office.
4) What happens if I am late arriving?
For latecomers it is down to the discretion of the front of house staff on whether they will be able to get you to your seat without disturbing other patrons. However, if you arrive 30 minutes later than the start time, you will be denied access to watch.
5) Can I get a refund if I am late and unable to watch?
As we are a charity and due to how the music rights to the show operate, we are unable to offer refunds due to late arrivals. We will do our best to get you into a performance later in the week.
6) Is the Playhouse wheelchair friendly?
Yes. We have a wheelchair lift to enter the Playhouse, with a couple of spaces at the back of the stalls. We then have a disabled access toilet available as well. If you have any further questions, please get in touch (click here to contact us)
