Frequently Asked Questions

Arriving at the Playhouse

1) How do I get to the Playhouse?

The Devonport Playhouse is located on Fore Street in Devonport, near the Mecca Bingo & Police Station. If you are coming from the City Centre area, the City College is a sign you are heading in the right direction. Please input PL1 4DN in your navigational system to find us.

2) Is there parking facilities?

The Playhouse does not have a car park, only on street parking. We ask all who visit to be mindful of our neighbours. Please do not double park on small alleys which would stop access for local residents or the emergency services.

3) What time does the theatre open before a show?

For evening performances, the theatre opens at 6:45pm for access to the bar, with the auditorium then opening at 7:00pm to allow you to take your seats. For an afternoon performance (2:30pm start) the playhouse will open at 1:45pm for access to the bar, with the auditorium then opening at 2:00pm. For a visiting company performance, these times may vary, please check with their box office.

4) What happens if I am late arriving?

For latecomers it is the discretion of the front of house staff on whether they will be able admit you to the auditorium. We will always wait for a suitable moment in the production to minimise disturbance to other patrons and the cast.

5) Can I get a refund on my booking?

We are unable to offer refunds but we will of course do our best to get you back for another performance.

6) Is the Playhouse wheelchair friendly?

Yes. We have a wheelchair lift (please note that his has a weight limit of 200kg and is only available for manual wheelchairs) to enter the Playhouse, with 2 of spaces at the back of the stalls (certain restrictions apply). We have a disabled access toilet available. If you have any further questions, please get in touch (click here to contact us)

7) Can I exit the theatre during a performance?

If you leave the auditorium during a performance there will be no readmittance until a suitable point in the production.

8) Can I bring alcohol to the theatre?

Only alcohol bought on the premises may be consumed in the theatre.
